All the News Is Coming Up Silicon
At the beginning of this month, batteries made a big splash in the news in an unlikely place: a wearable device with a new kind of battery hit the market, and major news outlets were quick to laud this silicon-ion anode technology for its potential applications in long-term energy storage and electric vehicles.
The news was highly publicized and it made me feel optimistic, in large part because I know that NanoGraf has already achieved more with less funding.
Our 3.8 Ah 18650 drops into a host of existing military battery packs as easily as it can into electric vehicles that are already on the road, and we’re looking forward to being able to announce even more news in the months ahead. As we do the math here at the end of Q3 2021, we are positioned for success in 2022 and beyond.
While we’re excited about what’s happening, I have no desire to rush forward with a product that’s not carefully tested, inspected, and ready for consumer use. I had the opportunity to talk to Ed Garsten at Forbes about safety issues in the battery supply chain and how we can deliver safer EVs in the near future.
And like so many aspects of battery technology development, time is a key variable that we can’t afford to rush. While there is an imperative to make it to market and help consumers make the transition to electric vehicles, safety always comes first.
Looking forward to sharing more with you soon. Until then, please reach out with any questions.
