NanoGraf Appointed Former Samsung Battery Executive In Kim as SVP of Product Development

NanoGraf, an advanced battery material company, has announced Dr. In Kim has joined as its new SVP of Product Development. Dr. Kim will lead NanoGraf’s team of scientists, technologists, and engineers – overseeing the research and development arm of the company.

He brings 10 years of experience managing and leading global research teams in their work to develop next-generation lithium-ion batteries for applications from electric vehicles (EVs) to consumer electronics. 

Prior to joining the NanoGraf team, Dr. Kim served as Vice President of Samsung SDI and head of Battery Technology Center in America for both Detroit and San Jose operations. In 2020, he returned to Korea where he served as Vice President of Samsung SDI Korea for the Next Generation Battery Innovation Group.

Dr. Kim joins NanoGraf on the heels of significant company growth. In 2020, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded NanoGraf a $1.65 million grant to develop longer-lasting lithium-ion batteries to power U.S. military equipment. In 2019, the U.S. Advanced Battery Consortium funded $7.5 million for EV battery research and development.

NanoGraf works with more than 50 companies (including some of the world’s leading consumer electronics, household appliance, and power tool brands) and over 12 strategic partners in EV or electric mobility (from startup to Fortune 100).

Dr. In Kim received his Ph.D. degree in electrochemistry from Seoul National University and postdoc in material science from Harvard University. He is the author of more than 11 Science Citation Index papers and 29 patents in the battery field, nationally and internationally.
